St. Patrick's Day Makeup

It's no secret that holidays are the perfect opportunity to bust out bold shadows and go for the dramatic. St. Patrick's Day has always been one of my favorite holidays for doing my makeup. Greens really stand out against my brown eyes, so I love St. Patrick's Day for its green hues.

I've actually really been itching to find a neon yellow based green for awhile. I've considered getting UD Electric, Sleek Acid, or Sugarpill Acidberry. I knew I wouldn't be able to find a shadow in time for St. Patrick's Day though. I knew I needed to come up with something.
That's when I decided to mix Inglot 477 with Sugarpill Butter Cupcake. The results can be seen in the inner corner of my look today.

The color is pretty much exactly what I was going for. I also decided to try my hand at falsies again for the second time. I had a lot more success this time around. I actually got the lashes to be close to my lash line!

FOTD: 90s Inspired

Hey everyone! I'm back with a 90s inspired makeup look featuring all matte products. My boyfriend's grandma recently knitted me with adorable yellow hat. I decided to pair it with a denim top and go for a 90s grunge vibe. I reached for the matte half of my Lorac pro palette to create a brown smokey eye. I paired it with my favorite dark lip, Mac Diva.

I was initially a little shy to the idea of wearing this yellow hat in public. I'm not the cutest person in hats, I must admit. I received so many compliments on the hat today that I don't feel so shy now. Everyone said I had  grungey, hipster look and that they loved it. What a confidence booster!

A Flirty Valentine's Day Look

Our Valentine's Day Week FOTD is just about up, so I wanted to offer another flirty option. For this look, our lids will be gold and rose. I used Urban Decay Chopper and patted it on the middle of the lid. I used a fluffy blending brush (E25 by Sigma) to lightly blend Dust from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette on both the inner and outer corners of the eye. Both the gold and rose tones really bring out a lot of different eye colors. I feel like it really brings out the lighter parts of my brown eyes.

To keep the look flirty, I paired the rose eye with a pink cheek and pink lips. The cheek color is Glisten by Tarte, which I think is just the perfect blusher color for Valentine's Day. Glisten lasts on my oily cheeks all day and it also blends super easily. I brought the blush a little closer to the apples of my cheeks today to give a more cutesy look.

Products Used:

Eyes:
ELF Eyelid Primer
Mac Paint Pot in Painterly
Urban Decay Chopper
Urban Decay Dust
Matte skintone from Tarte Mattenificent
Mac Fluidline liner
Benefit Bad Gal Lash
Anastasia Dip Brow in Blonde

Face:
Bourjois Happy Light Matte Primer Serum
Mac Pro Longwear Foundation
Mac Blotting Powder
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Glisten

Lipstick:
Mac Creme Cup

I'd love to hear what you think of this look down below.

Another Valentine's Day Look Featuring New Products by NYX

We are yet another day closer to the most romantic holiday of the year. I'm continuing onto the third day of my Valentine's Day FOTD challenge. Today's look is also a very wearable one that you could wear out to dinner on V-day, or could even wear during your work day.

I could easily see myself wearing this out to dinner with my boyfriend. UD's lipstick in Rapture that I'm wearing here doesn't really move that much when you eat, so you can rest assured that it isn't going to get all over your face during Valentine's Day.

I also decided to switch up the colors and go with some purples on the eyes. Ok, so I mostly did purple because I was dying to try out my new NYX Baked eyeshadow in Violet Smoke. I swatched it in store (thank you Ulta for putting in testers!) and immediately fell in love with the color. It has a really nice sheen to it that really photographs quite beautifully. I'll be sure to do a full review on it soon. I also used a new Nyx Baked blush in Chiffon. I went for a really soft, light application and applied the baked blush dry instead of wet. This really helped the attention stay on the eyes and lips, rather than the cheeks.

Products Used:

Eyes:
Elf Eyelid Primer
Elf Liquid Liner
Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara
Nyx Baked Shadow in Violet Smoke (purple lid color)
Nyx Glam Shadow in Soprano (inner corner)
Tarte Mattenificent Palette (the pink and dark purple mixed with the brown)
Mac Fluidline in Blacktrack (tightline)
Anastasia Dip Brow in Blonde

Face:
Bourjois Happy Light Matte Primer Serum
Mac Pro Longwear Foundation
MUFE Full Cover Concealer
Mac Blotting Powder
Mac Emphasize Highlighter
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil
Nyx Baked Blush in Chiffon

Valentine's Day Take 2

It's time for our second Valentine's Day look in our weekly challenge leading up to the big holiday. Today's look had to be interview appropriate, as I had an interview for a full-time job at my current place of employment. I think the interview went well to be honest, and I felt really confident rocking this makeup look.

The lids feature a rose gold pigment by Mac, which is one of my all time favorite rose gold products. I applied the pigment with a damp brush to really pack on the color. I wanted to deepen up the outer corner with Blackheart in the Naked 3 palette. This helped to add some dimension to the eye, without making the look too bold for the interview.

I wanted to keep the skin really glowy, so I used Mac's highlighter in Emphasize on my chin, nose, forehead, under the eyes, and on the top of the cheek bones. This really brings light to the face, without making you glittery. It's one of my favorite highlighters!

For the lips and eyes, I went for complimenting shades of pink. This keeps the look really feminine and airy.

Valentines Day FOTD

Hello readers! I've decided to challenge myself to do a different Valentine's Day look everyday from here until the big holiday! It's going to be tough for me to find enough interesting looks to keep it going, but I'm certainly going to try my hardest.

For the first look, I wanted to do something a little less wearable but still really fun. I decided to keep the eyes very white and airy, so the look wouldn't seem too much with the bold lip and red hearts. To do the little hearts, I used a red lip liner by Prestige. I simply drew a diagonal line and then another diagonal line going the opposite way to create a little heart shape. I definitely spent some time practicing on my hand before I tried to put it on my eyes.

Make sure you tightline your eyes when you're working with red near the eyes. If you aren't careful, red can make your eyes look sickly and tired, which is a big no-no. I also made sure to apply a generous amount of Bad Gal lash mascara.

Products Used:

Eyes:
Elf Eyelid Primer
NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk
White from Lorac Pro
Prestige Lip Liner in Red
Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara
Mac Fluidlinein Blacktracks
Mac Eyebrow Pencil

Face:
Rimmel 25 hr Foundation
Bourjois Happy Light Matte Primer Serum
Mac Dessert Rose Blush
Mac Emphasize Highlighter
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil

FOTD: A Very Minty Spring

Spring is calling my name. It's all like "Shellllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy." That's how it seems to me at least because I'm really finding myself gravitating towards Spring colors. I just can't help it! I'm not really into the whole cold weather thing, never have been. It's kind of odd since I'm from Washington though. I should be more used to the cold weather by now, but I guess I'm not. It might have something to do with the fact that I always get sick in the winter. Who knows.

What I do know is that I've always loved mint eyeshadows. I love the color mint in general, but I really love how soft it shows up on the skin. This one by Inglot is opaque enough for me to be happy. I think mint and purple really play well off of each other too. The purple brings a kind of depth to the eye that is needed with such a soft lid color.

Anyway, I'll go back to sipping my chai tea and watching the snow fall.

Products used:
Eyes:
Mac Paint Pot in Painterly
Inglot #24 on lid, #33 in outer corner
Urban Decay Cosmetics Woodstock (crease)
Tarte Mattenificent Palette (Dark purple in outer corner and light skin tone to blend)
Elf Liquid Liner in Black
Benefit They're Real Mascara
MUFE Aquabrow in #25

Bourjois 123 Foundation
MUFE Full Cover Concealer
Mac Blotting Powder
Mac Emphasize Highlighter
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil
La Femme blush in Purple Passion

FOTD: Seattle Seahawks

As someone born and raised in Washington, I'm beyond thrilled that my favorite team won the SB. Even though the game was really painful to watch due to the Broncos poor performance, I'm really proud of the Seattle Seahawks for their first ever SB win! We've really been waiting for a win for a really long time. It's about time!

I thought it would be really fun to celebrate by doing a makeup look inspired by the Seahawks. Lucky me that Inglot makes just the perfect colors to pull off this look. It's hard to find a good, vibrant green. The green I used is Inglot #477. What I really like about it is that it is mostly matte, but that it does have a little sparkly pieces in it. It doesn't cause any fallout for me, which makes it perfect for the areas under the eye and in the inner corner.

Products Used:
Eyes:
MUFE Aquabrow
Elf Eye Primer
Elf Liquid Liner
White from Lorac Pro
Inglot (green 477 and blue 428)

Face:
Bourjois Happy Light Matte Primer Serum
Bourjois 123 Foundation
Mac Blotting Powder

Mac Emphasize Highlighter

FOTD: Spring Forward

All of this cold weather is really making me want it to be Spring already. I'm missing the fun, airy colors of the warmer seasons. I tend to gravitate towards mints, so I tried to find a lilac color to play around with to be my spring inspiration. I purchased the UD glitter liners awhile back, but I hadn't even bothered to use them until today.

I was also inspired by the SA who helped me at Sephora  a few weeks ago. She was rocking this same purple glitter in her inner corner. Her look was a lot darker, but I used the glitter as my play off of her look.

I am also proud to say that I finally got my hands on the Bourjois 1,2,3 foundation. Some of you may know that I have been lusting after Bourjois products for quite awhile. A lovely friend of mine sent some to me after her trip to Europe. This is my second day using this foundation, but I really love the finish it gives to the skin. I feel like my face looks radiant and healthy and light. The coverage is lighter than my Mac Pro Longwear, so that is taking some getting used to. I'll be sure to do a before and after using the 1,2,3 foundation to blog about.

Let's get onto the whole products used thing!

Rosey FOTD Featuring Urban Decay Naked3

I received my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette in the mail finally! I was super impatient waiting for this birthday present to myself. I never really felt like the colors of the other naked palettes suited me. Naked was too warm for me and Naked 2 was OK but the fallout from the palette was irritating at times. I'm really drawn to rosey colors, as I think they bring out my eyes.

I ended up coming up with a makeup look that I think is really lovely!

Here's the look taken in indoor lighting next to a window. The rosey colors seem to draw attention to my eyes, just as I had hoped. I didn't get any fallout from the shadow colors that I selected, but we'll talk more about that when I do a full review!

This photo was taken outside in natural light to really show off the beauty of the shadows!

FOTD: Soft and Pretty with Power Brows

Work has been keeping me extremely busy with the holiday retail season in full swing. As a result, I haven't been wearing a lot of makeup. I have even went completely bare faced to work (not even brows). Some guy at work kept asking me where my makeup was on my face and it was really bothering me. I mean, we don't have to wear makeup every day, ya know? We wear makeup because we want to, not because you expect us to. Anyway, /end rant.

Today I finally got some relief from work with a much needed day off. I thought this would be a great day to make myself feel really good. I put on my new boots that I purchased early last week. I bought them during Macy's pre-Thanksgiving sales. I got them for under $60, so I can't really complain. I'll include an outfit photo as soon as I can convince my boyfriend to snap a photo for me. I really need a tripod!

Onto the products used for this look!

Happy Sunday aka Sunday Football! I have been really homesick for my homestate, Washington. I thought a great way to comfort myself would be to do some Seahawks themed makeup for work today. I reached for my Inglot shadows, of course. Here's what I came up with!

I blended a lime green onto the lid, with a mid tone in the crease. I then laid a shimmery blue over the top. The mid tone helped me to blend the blue out. I used NYX Milk on the waterline and in the inner corner to brighten up the look.

Eyes:
UDPP
NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk
Inglot Shadows in #477 (lime) and #428

FOTD: Darling Dame

Hello readers! I thought I would bring a FOTD into my post today. I've been loving purple for fall, so I thought it would be very appropriate to incorporate purple into today's makeup look. Purple is a really great touch for brown eyes and is a great way to start bringing in some darker colors for fall. I did the entire eyelook from Lorac's Stylist palette. I'll be doing a review on the palette after I test out some of the colors a bit more.

A Fall Inspired Underwing

It is officially Fall and I couldn't be happier. Over the next month I am planning on doing several fall and Halloween inspired looks and tutorials. I thought I would kick it off by sharing this look that I did with the Kat Von D Ladybird palette. The palette is absolutely perfect for fall. Stay tuned for  the review I am going to be doing on the palette.

For this look, I did a dramatic Underwing that comes up from the lower lash line, rather than from the upper lash line. I actually really love the way it changes my eye shape. I used Inglot's Gel liner in #77 and Inglot's angled liner brush to create the underwing.  I used all matte shadows on the eye so that the colors would not be overwhelming for such a strong wing.

Products used:
Eyes:

Lorac eyeprimer
Kat Von D Ladybird Cleopatra, Wolf, Vespertine
Inglot Gel Liner in #77
Anastasia Brow Kit in Blonde

Face:

FOTD: Bold Vampy Lips

Hello everyone and Happy 2nd day of Fall! I am so excited that it is finally my favorite season. I look forward to doing several fall themed posts, so stay tuned for those in the next few weeks. I thought I would kick off the season with a vampy lip with one of my favorite fall lipsticks, Mac Hang up. Hang Up is an oxblood red, which is just so fitting for the season! I paired the bold lip with almost naked eyes and a neutral blusher. I wanted to keep the face as fresh as possible.

FOTD: Hanging onto Summer

Hello readers! It has been awhile since I just did a full face makeup post for you. After over a week, I am finally feeling better. I had a terrible upper respiratory infection that was just making me look awful. Now, I'm back in action and ready to get back into a posting schedule.

To celebrate the darkness being out of my face, I decided to do a very light, summery look. With summer coming to a close, it only seemed fitting to do one last summer look. Here's what I ended up coming up with.

I am mostly excited about the lips. I finally found a use for one of my baby pink lipsticks that is not flattering on me at all. To darken it up, I layered Revlon Coral Reef gloss over the top. The result is the gorgeous color you see above.

Eyes:
UDPP
Inglot 361 (peach)
Urban Decay Half Baked patted over the peach
Mac Tilt (crease)
Inglot 371 (blended a little into crease)
